Yocto Project 5.3 リリース (Whinlatter)
はじめに
2025/12/16 に Yocto Project 5.3 がリリースされました。 Yocto Project 5.x 系のマイナーリリースとなります。
所感
poky リポジトリの master ブランチの更新が停止されるという重大な変更がありました。これに伴い whinlatter ブランチも提供されません。
Yocto Project のビルドシステムを使用開始するための環境構築の方法が以下のどちらかになります。
経緯の詳細については「bitbake-setup - Background and details/FAQ」を参照ください。
また、kas や submodules などの他のツールや、個別のリポジトリを使用したセットアップについては引き続き利用可能です。

リリース内容
Yocto Project 5.3 は LTS ではなく通常リリースとなります。は 2026/4 までサポートされます。
Linux kernel 6.16, gcc 15, glibc 2.42, LLVM 21.1.1、その他 300 以上のレシピが更新されました。
ホスト OS の Python の最小バージョンが 3.9 となります。
ホスト PC の必須ストレージ容量が 90Gbytes から 140GBytes に変更されました。
ホスト PC の必須 RAM 容量が 8Gbytes から 32Gbytes に変更されました。

重要な変更点
poky リポジトリに関するもの以外のいくつかを抜粋します。
WORKDIR の変更
"S" 変数に "${WORKDIR}/something" を含めることができなくなりました。BitBake はこのようなレシピでエラーとなります。 今後は以下のように変更する必要があります。
S = "${UNPACKDIR}/something"
Git fetcher の展開先の変更
これまでは "${WORKDIR}/git" や "${UNPACKDIR}/git" にソースコードが展開されていましたが、BB_GIT_DEFAULT_DESTSUFFIX で設定されたディレクトリ名を参照するように変更されました。これにより Git fetcher を使用するレシピの "S" の値が OpenEmbedded-Core の bitbake.conf で提供される "S" の値とデフォルトで一致するようになっています。
そのため以下のような記述は不要 ( 削除するべき ) となります。
S = "${WORKDIR}/git"
もしくは
S = "${UNPACKDIR}/git"
イメージタスクの do_list_image_features
do_list_image_features が追加されました。このタスクでイメージレシピで使用可能な "IMAGE_FEATURES" の一覧を表示できます。
